How are you different because of your writing? Recently I posited that our characters are not the ones changing. We also change as a result of our writing.

This thought occurred to me after re-reading the opening scene from my new book Stink Bomb.

Let’s break this idea apart. How have I changed? I am a better observer of people. I’m more familiar with the elements of great plot and character development. I’m a more concise communicator with words. I hope my memory has improved. That’s an improvement. I used to always scramble for pen and paper, but now I can take mental notes. I know great content or fine writing. Finally, I am improving at rewriting. It used to be impossible to rework a plot point. Now, it’s just hard.

It’s your turn. How has writing changed you?
